And there we were, hard at work...

Just completed the baking, the layers of cake cooling down .... when load shedding hits!!!

For those of you who are fortunate enough not o know what load shedding is , it is when our wonderful electricity supplier decides to switch off supply due to high demand and low resources.

So there we were, in dark and a unfinished Bridal Shower cake to complete for collection the next morning!

We are not fortunate enough to have battery backup or a Generator (but it is on the top of our list)

Candles didn't cut it and we were just about to call it Quits when Elaine had a brainwave.

She wheeled in her BIG BOY scooter into the decorating area, strategically placed it so that the headlights lit up the workspace and working at double speed before the battery ran out we put together this beautiful Wedding shower cake.

 The next morning the cake was collected on time,
The Client was extremely happy....

And the Bike battery was on Charge

Here is one of other success stories

Early Saturday morning while we were still just laying around (not out of bed yet) we received an urgent call from a client who required a cake by 11am that day.

Normally we would not be able to assist on such short notice but not wanting to back down from a challenge we decided to make a go of it.

We jumped out of bed, Elaine started mixing the cake mix (once again our secret super moist chocolate cake) which does take longer that normal to bake !!

While Elaine was working on the baking side, I was starting with decor on the Scorpion cake (previous post). After a what felt like forever the cake came out of the oven.

I got jumping doing the carving, while Elaine prepared the Fondant work.

Still warm we started covering the cake.

Once covered I started with the airbrush and Elaine started with the Mask.

We were multitasking like you cant believe.

If someone had to watch us they would think it was a game of twister.

At the end of the day we completed and delivered the cake on time to one extremely happy client

Our Latest creation, an Amazing Scorpion cake.

this was one of those projects that surprised even us when it came out as good as it did.

Our first issue was that we made this out of our Secret Super moist chocolate cake.

This is an extremely delicious cake but it is not at all suited for sculpting work as it is very soft and moist.

But in the end we did not let that get to us and the result was stunning
